Hello, changes! As you have probably heard (or seen!) by now, Facebook has been rolling out some new changes to their interface on Desktop and mobile apps, as well as shifting their focus to the groups/events experience for users. We’re excited to see what new features will be introduced in the coming future and how we can help you incorporate them into your Facebook strategy for your business and brand! Stay tuned for all of our tips. We made a quick list of changes to keep your eye out for!

Facelift for Facebook

Facebook is ditching the iconic blue bar for a cleaner, sleeker look! This is being rolled out on Mobile slowly from the start of May and on your desktop in the coming months, so if you don’t have it yet, don’t stress. Personally, we’re excited to see their changes and new directions after over 10 years! You can read more about this revamp here.

Track your purchases and communicate with businesses via Messenger

You may have already noticed, Messenger has been having a general design revamp, especially recently. Well, in the coming future you can expect to see more updates! Facebook has plans to roll out a feature on their Messenger app that allows you to be sent updates about your online shopping orders via Messenger instead of flooding your Email inbox with countless emails. You’ll also be able to easily message the business if you’re having any issues! Great for those of you who are business owners too so you can communicate with your customers much more easily.

Shifting focus to groups

The new Facebook redesign is also shifting more of a focus towards the overall ‘groups’ experience on the platform. The company announced that the new redesign for Facebook “makes communities as central as friends.” Facebook will highlight prominent groups/events you’re a part of and create a personalised feed rather than just a generalised update of your friends’ posts on Facebook. A feature called ‘Meet New Friends’ is also being introduced to help expand social circles by connecting ‘strangers’ who have something in common, whether it be the same school, employer or interests.

Who’s your ‘Secret Crush’?

Last year, Facebook introduced its new dating service feature called, ‘Secret Crush’. It had only been released in some countries so far for trial, and now it has been announced that Facebook Dating is expanding to 14 more countries. With the feature, you can create a secret list of Facebook friends you’re attracted to or interested in, whether or not they have a dating profile. If they’re also using Secret Crush, and they add you to their list, Facebook will notify the two of you that there’s a match. Easy as that! Would you like to see this feature be introduced to Facebook in Australia? What are your thoughts on a dating app on Facebook? Too much or not soon enough?

There are more features rolling out in 2019, so keep your eyes peeled and watch this space for more updates! What new focuses and features are you most excited about? Are there any new features you’d like to see be introduced? Let us know in the comments! We’re so glad to see Facebook introducing more features such as the purchase updates in Messenger, and would love to see more aspects like this moving forward that can improve and build on business to consumer relationships!

Stay tuned for more updates!
