Getting Social at SCBWN Social Media Cocktail Evening #DashNightOut
We kicked off April with the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network (SCBWN) Social Media Cocktail Evening last Thursday, where our very own Bronte Cresswell was chosen to be one of the four panelists. She represented the Dash team, and shared some insights into the ever-changing online world of social media, dos and don'ts, and challenges as a young businesswoman in the age of everything digital.
The ‘Get Social’ event was a HUGE success, held at the gorgeous Circa Rooftop venue in Maroochydore. Each guest was greeted with a cocktail on arrival, featuring the signature cocktail of the night, ‘The Purple Lady’ (or champagne, of course!) It was such a vibrant atmosphere, with a room filled with 175 spirited women looking to make new business connections, socialise, while learning the ins and outs of social media from a panel of social media experts!
Oh, and we can’t forget the expert speakers on the panel - these gals mean business when it comes to social media (literally) and had plenty of tips, tricks and anecdotes to share! We had the expert Dr Karen Sutherland from University of the Sunshine Coast, a multi-award winning social media educator, researcher and consultant; Liv Blondeau, a passionate content creator from April Ford; and Brooke Styles, an insightful social media influencer with a great story to tell; and of course, the lovely Bronte from Dash who started with humble beginnings running trial and error social media marketing campaigns for the Helm Club, when social media marketing, let alone agencies, was basically nonexistent. As you know, she eventually started her own agency, She The Social (now Dash of Milk) and her team has so many exciting plans in the works - we can’t wait to share them with everyone!
The panel was organised and hosted by the women of the Sunshine Coast Business Womens’ Network. We are so thankful to SCBWN for giving Dash the chance to share our insights and experiences with such a large, supportive community of businesswomen, and share some of the social media magic we try to give our wonderful clients.
To wrap up, a few of the key takeaways from the evening:
Make sure to always check your insights to get custom analytics for your account
Always remember to be social on your socials! The best thing you can do on your social media pages to increase your engagement with your followers is to interact and engage too.
Be authentic with everything you do on social - this is how you will stand out above the noise
Plan + schedule with some of the incredible tools out there (we use Sked Social at Dash)
And finally, for the love of all things social, do not buy followers! It’s so detrimental to your engagement, makes measuring insights and analytics so unreliable, as well as difficult to interpret, and will overall do your business more harm than good in the long run.
Until next time!
The Dash team xx
